Abundant Borders, in collaboration with Berwickshire Housing Association and the wonderful residents of Linkim Court we made the garden areas more easily accessible, lower maintenance and to provide herbs for cooking.
This is what the garden looked like at the start of the summer. Somewhat neglected and very difficult for the residents to keep tidy. And no food plants at all.
The community was very clear about what they wanted and we co-created the garden space to meet their needs.
And this is what the garden looks like now. There are strawberries, herbs, perennial salads and flowers in raised beds which are much more accessible for the residents, particularly for those who are less mobile or in wheelchairs.
And this little animation shows the complete transformation of the space!
The full story of the project, from building the beds, filling with soil, laying the paving to planting the plants, can be seen through the latest news section of the website.
