… fun and friendship
In the period after the Covid pandemic, as we were all struggling to reconnect with friends, family and community, we partnered with BHABefriend, supported by BAVS and funded by Scottish Government Covid Recovery Funding, to take social lunches to community centres and village halls across Berwickshire.
These LunchPlus events, included fun activities as well as lunch, and were wonderful ways for people to come together safely and share healthy, freshly made food.
On the menu was a choice of two, healthy, hearty soups, a choice of freshly made sandwiches, fresh fruit and lashings of tea and coffee.
These social lunches have now been taken on by many different communities across The Borders, with volunteers running social meals for their communities, with Abundant Borders providing food hygiene training for volunteers.
