Epsom salts have traditionally been used for their action of eliminating toxins from the body.
Considering the principals of reflexology where the foot is a map of the body with pressure points corresponding to our organs and various systems, we can see the healthful benefits of a good foot soak.
We will add various herbs to enhance this action:-
Calendula, not only are these flowers anti-inflammatory they are anti-fungal so will help to deal with nasty conditions like athletes foot.
Thyme, with its anti-septic action will back up the benefits of calendula.
Lavender and Rose, for a wee touch of luxury, as well as benefits mentioned previously.
If you wish to stimulate your circulation the addition of warming spices such as ginger, cayenne or mustard will help with this, also if you’re feeling chilly after a long day in the garden any of these spices will soon warm you up! Please do not use these additions if you have areas of broken skin.
For a deoderising and invigorating foot bath, try adding thyme, mint and lemon peel.
Pop on a pair of cosy socks afterwards to continue the benefits of this luxurious soak.
