The Good Food Nation (Scotland) Act of 2022 provides the legislative framework that enables the government to take forward a vision for Scotland to be “a Good Food Nation, where people from every walk of life take pride and pleasure in, and benefit from, the food they produce, buy, cook, serve, and eat each day”.
The Act requires local authorities and health boards to produce Regional Food Plans, in line with the National Food Plan. The consultation for the National Food Plan concluded in April 2024, with publication expected in Spring 2025. At that point, Local Authorities and Health Boards will have a year to put their regional plans in place.
On behalf of the Borders Food Forum, Abundant Borders are part of the Steering Group with Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders working to create a Regional Food Plan for the Scottish Borders.
